New Balance’s M991 is a bit of an unsung classic. We feel like the 991 has been a bit overlooked in favour of the (still admittedly quite ace) 990 and 992 models, and see no reason why the humble 991 shouldn’t be held in the same esteem. That’s right daddio, it’s been 40 whole years since these beauties first hit the pavements, and we don’t think it’s controversial to say the world is all the better for it. Anyway, the shoe itself is pretty spectacular – made in Blighty out of a tasteful blend of nubuck and suede, these are running shoes suitable for any activity: from wandering supermarkets to razzing down canal paths.
