Suede and mesh upper. Rubber sole unit. Branded sidewalls. Nergy technology. From humble Dad shoe origins to urban terrains and runways, New Balance has certainly transcended its functional footwear origins. One of the brightest examples of this is the 2002R, the sibling to the 2010-released 2002 – confusing right? Anyway, this is neither part of the USA or UK made families, the 2002R falls under the Japanese lineage, being the brainchild of NB Japan creative director Tetsuya Shono. Enough context; what about the shoes? Well we don’t use the word premium lightly, but the leather used on these beauties certainly is, and thanks to those ultra-bouncy midsoles, they’re more than just a pair of pretty faces.
